Sun Yatsen Mausoleum

View from the top of the Sun Yatsen Mausoleum

The Hopkins-in-Nanjing cohort recently visited the Sun Yatsen Mausoleum. Dr. Sun Yatsen is considered  to be the “Father of Modern China” because of his fight against the Qing imperial government, and after the 1911 revolution, his founding of the People’s Republic of China. The mausoleum is set up high on a hill and visitors to the sit climb 290 steps (yes, we counted) to reach the top. The panoramic view from the the second peak of Mount Zijin is one of the best views I have seen yet. There were many Chinese tourists there, but not many foreigners.
